Sophie Coppola wrote, directed and produced the film, "Somewhere." It stars Dakota Fanning's younger sister, Elle and Stephen Dorff. The movie is about an actor who goes through depression while living at the famous hotel, the Chateau Marmont.
His 11 year old daughter then steps into his life and things change. The unique thing about this movie is the history behind the hotel, where the movie takes place.
Ms Coppola, who is the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola shares some of her personal experiences of growing up in her screenplay. Such as the time she spent with her father while he traveled for his work and she tagged along and stayed at hotels.
The reason why the hotel stand out with such extraordnary history is because the Chateau Marmont has always been a hotel that allowed the celebrities to have their privacy. It is the hotel where Jim Morrison of the Doors hung himself from a pipe so he could get back to his room.
Jim Belushi died from an overdose of cocaine. Scarlet Johannson made out with Benecio Del Tores, Britney Spears was forbidden to return, a member of the Red Hot Chili peppers lived while he was a drug addict, and where band members from Led Zeppelan drove a motor cycle down the hall. It was suggested that the famous Eagles song, "Hotel California" is about the Chateau Marmont. The Marmont was built in 1929 and modeled after the Chateau Amboise Lorre, in France.
