Film Critic, Roger Ebert Will Return to TV in 2011 using Computer Software for His Voice
Roger Ebert
Roger Ebert was born on June 18, 1942 in Urbana, Illinois. He had attended the University of Chicago, and returned to Urban to graduate at the University of Illinois Chanpaign-Urbana. He is married to Chaz Smith, a trial attorney. He once dated Oprah Winfrey, who gives Mr Ebert the credit for talking her into Syndicating the "Oprah Winfrey show." In 1979, Mr Ebert had suffered alcoholism and decided to quit drinking. In 2002, he was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Roger Ebert has lost his voice due to the illness, and refused to get another surgery to try one last time to have his voice restored. He felt that surgery was just too painful.
As of February, 2010 Mr Ebert has had a full time nurse at his aide. He now uses a computer software program that will allow him to speak. The Cere-Proc is a custom tailored text-to-speech software that he used before he lost his voice. He will launch a new show, "Roger Ebert, Presents at the Movies" that will premier on January 21, 2011. Mr Ebert is one of the finest film critics that ever lived. We had interviewed him years ago in New York City and found him to be a kind, easy going brilliant guy. We wish him the best with his new show. His courage to continue his work is most admirable.
