Michael Douglas appeared on the "Today Show" being interviewed by Matt Lauer. He looked much better. He had lost 32 pounds and put back on 12 so far. He said he eats like a pig and can eat anything he wants now. 'It was a wonderful thing to be able to eat again.' Around 2/3 of the way through chemo I could not swallow. The sores were too large in my mouth.' He made a joke about how bad he had looked when he was photographed, and said, 'who knows if they touched me up to make me look better.'
Right now Mr Douglas still has to deal with having 'dry mouth." 'It will last for one to two more years.' Mr Douglas pointed out to Matt Lauer that he told the kids about the cancer from the beginning. 'I had to explain to his kids why I was so tired on the couch. I decided to take them to Chemo therapy and 'the kids got a kick out of it.' He had to wear a mask on a face and the kids thought it was cool.
Michael talked about what he had learned from the experience of having cancer; 'The cancer put a time line on my life; my dad is 94, mother is 87 and I am 66 now. This is my 3rd act. I am more concerned about my time and how I choose to spend it. The cancer had given me, a new depth. All of a sudden my friends, family and fans hit me at a level I could not imagine.'
As for now, Michael Douglas said, 'the tumor is gone, and now it is time to start preparing for, "Liberace.'
