Most Hours on Camera, TV Talk Show Host, Regis Philbin Announced Retirement from TV at Age 79


Talk Show host, Regis Philbil had announced that he will be retiring by the end of the Summer 2011 from Television. He had been in the business for more than 55 years. Regis Philbin was born in the Bronx. He is Irish Catholic. He had graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in Sociology. In 1954 Philbin had replaced Steve Allen on the "Westinghouse Tonight Show." He only lasted a few weeks before being removed. In 1975 Regis has co-hosted AMLA in California. The show lasted until 1983. Later he moved to New York with, "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee." and later the show was called, "Live with Regis and Kellie." Philbin has won the Guinness Book of World Records for spending the most hours on camera. He had reached 15,662 hours and is still counting until his retirement by the end of the Summer 2011. No date has been given yet, but he will be missed. He had to be one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. He is a real inspiration for everyone in the media business. He is still married to his wife Joy.
