Glenn Close was born on March 19, 1947. She grew up with a very affluent family in Greenwich, Connecticut. She is related to Marjorie Meriweather Post. She attended the College of William and Mary and went into acting. She is a singer and actress for stage and screen. She had been married 3 times. Her most recent marriage is to David E. Shaw, an Internet Entrepreneur.
Most recently she had discovered that her photograph was included in the video that was made by Capt. Owen Honors on the air craft carrier, "Enterprise." This story had received a lot of media attention because of the offensive language used in the video.
Apparently, Ms Close had visited the Enterprise about 4 years ago in 2006 and there was a photograph of her seated at a ship board office behind a desk wearing a leather jacket and a hat that had the ship name on it. She was also holding a stuffed animal, a toucan. The toucan was used throughout the video. The picture of Glenn was taken and edited into the video and can be seen very briefly in the montage at the end of the video. Glenn Close responded to the news of this by saying,
"I am distraught that my image has been used to perpetuate something that I abhor,
The cynical, unauthorized use of my image in this video is deeply offensive and insulting, and was the result of a seemingly innocent request of me during a visit to the aircraft carrier over four years ago."
