Harvey and Georgina Chapman met in 2004 and got married in 2007. Georgina Chapman is from London and started a design business in 2005. She and her partner Keren Craig met in school in London, and the two of them decided to call their company, Marchesa. It was named after,the eccentric 1920's socialite, Marchesa Luis Casati. Today the company is a tremendous success selling to Saks 5th Ave, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. The company separated the business into ready to wear and custom; coctail dresses, evening gowns and wedding dresses. The prices range from 700 dollars to over 100,000 for a wedding dress that is custom made. The evening gowns are worn by many celebrities including; Anne Hathaway, Eva Longoria and Sandra Bullock to the Academy Awards,(As featured above with Sandra Bullock at the 2010 Academy Awards). Beth Ostrosky ordered her wedding dress from Marchesa for her marriage to Howard Stern. Colleen Rooney also ordered her dress from the company and paid 100,000 dollars for the dress. Needless to say, that Georgina Chapman also designed her own wedding dress when she married Harvey Weinstein. Now there are rumors floating around in England and with many of the people in the fashion industry here in the US that Marchesa has a very good chance to be picked by Kate Middleton for her marriage to Price William. We reported earlier that this is another strong contender, named,Bruce Oldfield, who was a personal friend of Princess Diana. "Vogue UK" had asked Mr Oldfield what kind of dress Kate Middleton should get for her wedding, and he stated, "the dress should have a simple silhouette with sufficient detailing to give a sense of occasion, but not too much to drown her slight figure." One other contender is Phillipa Lepley. Ms Middleton has wonderful taste and we know that who ever she uses will do a good job in designing her the most gorgeous dress. All are wonderful choices, and only time will tell, and we will keep you posted!
