The hat featured above was at a Chanel fashion show designed by, Philip Treacy He was born on May 26, 1967 in Ahascragh, county, Galway, Ireland. He studied at the National College of Fashion and Design in Dublin. His first big break in the fashion industry came when he designed for, John Galliano and Rifak Ozbek. By 1991, he had opened a workshop and showroom. He designed the 2 hats that were featured in the Lady Gaga Monster Ball tour in 2010; the lobster and telephone. He also currently designs hats for Chanel, Valentino, Vercace, and many more couture design houses. He was asked to design the headwear that will be worn by the elder bridesmaids for the Royal wedding on April 29, 2011. Philip Treacy will also design the hat that will be worn by Constance Middleton, (Kate's mom), for the Royal wedding.. It would have been interesting what he would have designed for the young bridesmaids, but that will not happen. Mr. Tracey hails from Ireland, and admits that he always had an interest in women's clothes. He learned how to sew at the age of 5, and would make doll clothes for his sister. He used to love watching weddings, because they were like fashion shows. This is not the first wedding that he had designed headwear for. His first gig was for, Isabella Blow, the fashion editor of Tatler Magazine in 1989. He had lived in the same building as she, and worked in his workroom in the basement of her building. Mr Treacy has won many awards, and it is understandable why Kate Middleton had chosen him as the headwear designer. |
