and then turned her energy to doing stand-up comedy at small clubs and
coffeehouses, before getting her big break as Emcee at "Clyde's Comedy
Club", 1981. She later scored a hit on her own sitcom "Ellen", and her
daytime talk show, which won 15 Emmy Awards. On September 10, 2009, it
was announced that Ellen will be a judge on "American Idol", replacing
Paula.
