Robert Redford is man behind the festival that became so successful.

The Sundance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in the US. It was launched in 1978 in Salt Lake City. The festival was founded by, Sterling van Wagenen, who was the head of a company that Robert Redford owns, "Wild Wood."
The festival originally was held in August. In 1981, the film festival had moved to Park City, Utah, and had switched to January. It was Sydney Pollack who suggested that the time be changed to a winter month. The idea was to get Hollywood celebrities to go to a ski resort at a time when you could ski. The film festival is responsible for making many talented people famous. Some who got their first big break in the industry are:
1. The Cohen Brothers for "Blood Simple" 1985
2 Quintin Taratino, "Reservoir Dogs"
3. Kevin Smith, "Clerks"
4. Amy Adams, "Junebug"
5. Christopher Nolan, "Memento"
6. Maggie Gyllenhaal, "Secretary"
7. Robert Rodriquez, El Moriachi"
There are many more people who had launched a career in the film industry due to the Sundance Film festival. Mr. Redford is still very involved in the festival and attends every year.

Robert Redford (Leo)

Robert Redford (Leo) Born August 18, 1936.

Actor, director and environmental activist, Robert won an Academy Award
for Best Director of his film "Ordinary People". He grew up loving
sports, especially baseball, for which he won a scholarship to the
University of Colorado. After that, he enrolled in the Pratt Institute
of Art and Design, New York City, and the American Academy of Dramatic
Arts. His most memorable films include "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance
Kid", "Out of Aftica","The Sting", "The Great Gatsby", "The Natural",
and "The Horse Whisperer". In Juy 2009, he was awarded an honorary
Oscar for his lifetime achievements in film.

Robert's Astrological birthchart reveals a highly energetic and proud
vital energy, with a lifelong interest in the performing arts,
entertainment and drama. His chart suggests that he was born to be a
showman and celebrate the arts in his own personal way. His
presentation of self is rather cool and sophisticated, with a touch of
the "wise old sage" who has been there, done that and experienced all
the ups and downs of life, Robert's feeling nature can be quite
"uptight" and critical of his surroundings, but he would always have a
vision of taking off on a new adventure where he could expand his
knowledge in a liberal and unstructured way, Robert's mindset can be
on the picky-critical side, but there is a large amount of humor in his
thinking, and he has the ability to visualize a perfect outcome when he
focuses on a project and works out all the details. His artistic and
loving nature would require perfection, dicipline, and carefully planned
out scenarios, but he also has the urge to surprise others with his
startingly radical value system. Robert uses his energy to pursue his
goals in a rather erratic and eccentric style, and it may be hard for
others to figure out what he will or will not do next. There is a
restlessness and changablilty to his agressive energy, and this can
cause upsets and havoc whenever he goes too far with it.

For the year 2010, many and varied offers may come his way to expand and improve his general lifestyle, his professional work, and his personal achievements.
