| Elsie May Fortin was Madonna's grandmother |
Madonna's grandmother, Elsie May Fortin who was just 3 months shy of being 100 years old passed away. She had been living in a nursing home in Bay City, Michigan. It had been reported that Madonna was very close to her and had lived with her since she was a child. Madonna had lost her mom when she was only 5 years old from breast cancer. Madonna's mother had died in 1963 at the age of 30. Elsie was quoted as saying, I don't always approve of what she does, but she is my granddaughter and I still love her.'
