White Stripes Break Up: The end of one of the finest groups in rock history!

Mega and Jack White had announced the breakup of their band.  The announcement had been made official on Jack White's website.  The White Stripes was founded in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. Meg White was the drummer and did vocals sometimes, and Jack did the vocals, key board and guitar.  Jack White was in a previous group in Detroit.  He had met Meg, who was a bartender.  The couple had married on September 21, 1996.  Jack Gillis had changed his name to White.  The White Stripes  first performed as a group on July, 14, 1997 at the Gold Dollar in Detroit.  The couple had divorced in March of 2000.  For a long time the couple insisted that they were brother and sister. The White Stripes had made 6 studio albums and 1 live album.  They were considered one of the finest groups in rock history.
