Elton John and Billy Joel

Elton John was on the Today show with Matt Lauer.  He made it clear that he was very happy as a new father at the age of 63. He stated that he had tried to adopt a boy some time ago, but it did not work out. Elton pointed out that neither he or David like to be away from their son, Zachary.  'One of us will always be with him.'  He has a new animation film that he had been the executive producer of called, Gnomeo and Juliet. It was a project that had taken many years to develop.  He has produced 4 Broadway shows and 3 animation films now.  He stated that his career in music has been amazing, but it really took off when he did the Lion King. It opened a lot of doors for me and totally changed my career. Before I was just doing records and concerts, then when The Lion King happened I got to work on films, Broadway, etc.  The issue of  Billy Joel came up in the interview on the Today show.  Elton said,'Billy Joel is an American Treasure and I am concerned about him. He said that you don't take a dog to rehab.  I am saying this because I want Billy to live a long life. I am only trying to help when I make statements about him. I do love him and I want to stress that.'
